The Story of Bonnie and Clyde

You’ve heard the story of Bonnie and Clyde
Their lives and tragic deaths
But who would’ve guessed
That for 40 years next
Their story would still be on our breaths.

I think their names have changed a little
Though I don’t know who to blame
They’re now Beniffer
(For Ben and Jennifer)
See, you know them all the same.

But there’s plenty more, it doesn’t stop there,
People love these famous pairs
From Vaughniston
To McGoslin’
Do they love each other?  No one cares.

Cuz for us it’s enough
That we hear all the stuff
That these couples do around town
People of fame?  We’ll combine their names!
Light them up until they break down.

These famous couples, like the one in this movie
Who die in a hailstorm of lead
They won’t ever be free
From you or from me
Until they’re old or pretty much dead.

Bonnie and Clyde were a lucky pair
To live and die over 40 years back
If today they were alive
In two thousand nine
No one would cut them any slack.

What would we call them, can you make a guess?
Maybe Clonnie or Clydie or Byde.
But one thing’s for sure
Into our trap they’d be lured
And it’s death for Bonnie and Clyde.
